OnePlus 6 to Get Google Lens Mode, Improved Camera Quality With OxygenOS 5.1.9 Update

OnePlus 6 is getting the Google Lens mode in its native camera app with the upcoming OxygenOS 5.1.9 software update in order to bring an advanced camera experience to its latest flagship offering. Using the new Google Lens functionality, OnePlus 6 users can get contextual suggestions when they scan objects using the camera. Google's technology uses a combination of AI, augmented reality, and search to offer smarter results. The functionality will also roll out to OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users via an OTA update soon. Separately, the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update is set to improve photography experience on the OnePlus 6.
"The integrated Google Lens Mode uses the phone camera to surface information about the objects through machine learning to provide more details and also provide relevant search tags. They can use the camera to: scan QR codes and use the image recognition tool to get more information about things like books, buildings, and works of art, by simply tapping on it," said OnePlus in a statement. The company also detailed the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update in a forum post.
As for the OnePlus 6 camera improvements, OnePlus said the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update will give the smartphone camera better clarity, dynamic range, edge detection in Portrait mode, as well as improvements in overall focusing speed and accuracy.

OnePlus 6 specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano) OnePlus 6 runs OxygenOS on top of Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, and sports a 6.28-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) Full Optic AMOLED panel with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is fuelled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB of internal storage. There is a 3300mAh battery, with Dash Charge support, powering the internals from underneath the hood.
In the camera department, the OnePlus 6 gets a dual rear camera setup with a primary 16-megapixel Sony IMX519 sensor, with f/1.7 aperture, and a 20-megapixel secondary Sony IMX376K sensor with dual-LED flash. On the front, the smartphone bears a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity options on the OnePlus 6 include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
