Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 5 Plus Listed Online Ahead of Official Launch
Xiaomi's much-anticipated Mi 5 flagship smartphone is set to launch on Wednesday at an event in China.
The Chinese company has also confirmed that it would have a limited media preview at MWC 2016 in Barcelona the same day.
Merely few hours ahead of the launch, the Xiaomi Mi 5 has been listed by a third-party online retailer named XiaomiDevice which has not only listed the Xiaomi Mi 5 but has also listed the Mi 5 Plus with pricing details.
According to the third-party retailer, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be priced at $499 (approximately Rs. 34,000) for the 16GB model while the 64GB model will cost $599 (approximately Rs. 41,000). The Mi 5 Plus is listed at $599. Of course since this is a third-party store, one cannot be certain if this will be the official launch price, whenever the Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone is unveiled in India.
As per the third-party retailer listing, the Mi 5 will feature a 5.2-inch QHD IPS display; Snapdragon 820 processor; 4GB of RAM; 16-megapixel rear camera; 8-megapixel front camera, and 16GB/ 64GB storage models. The listing adds that the smartphone will be available in Gold, White, and Black colours. The Mi 5 Plus, on the other hand, is said to pack same innards as the Mi 5. The biggest difference however is said to be the screen size, the Mi 5 Plus is likely to feature a 5.7-inch QHD display.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been so far rumoured to come in two memory and storage versions - 3GB of RAM with 32GB inbuilt storage, and 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage. It is also supposed to feature Quick Charge 3.0. The Chinese company is also said to use a pressure-sensitive touchscreen, which will be a technology similar to Apple's 3D Touch technology. Notably, Gionee also implemented a '3D Touch' on its new S8 smartphone.
A recent retail packaging leak had tipped that the Mi 5 will feature a 5.15-inch full-HD display and will be powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 820 processor. The purported retail package sticker of the Mi 5 smartphone also added that the device will be backed by a 3000mAh battery and will sport a USB Type-C port. The smartphone was listed to pack a 16-megapixel rear camera alongside a 4-megapixel front camera.
