Archos Diamond 2 Note, Diamond 2 Plus Launched Ahead of MWC 2016




Archos days ahead of MWC 2016 has launched two new smartphones namely the Diamond 2 Note and the Diamond 2 Plus. The company will be displaying the handsets along with new tablets at the trade show. While the Diamond 2 Note will be priced at $279 (roughly Rs. 19,200), the Diamond 2 Plus will cost $229 (roughly Rs. 15,700). Both will hit the shelves in May this year. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow-running devices are already listed on the company's website along with specifications.

The dual-SIM supporting Archos Diamond 2 Note features a 6-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) resolution IPS display with 2.5D curved screen, Gorilla Glass 3 protection and pixel density of 490ppi. It features a hybrid SIM slot, which can house either two SIM cards (Micro+Nano) or a single SIM card along with a microSD card (up to 128GB) for storage expansion - it houses 32GB of inbuilt storage. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Mediatek X10 MT6795 processor clocked at 2GHz, clubbed with 3GB LPDDR3 RAM and PowerVR G6200 GPU.
 The smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), f/2.0 aperture, and dual LED flash. Also featured is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with 84-degree wide angle BSI sensor and f/2.2 aperture. On the connectivity front, the Archos Diamond 2 Note bears 4G LTE (Cat. 4),Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, IR Sensor, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB (with OTG), and FM radio options.

The Diamond 2 Note is backed by a non-removable 3610mAh Li-ion battery with fast charging capabilities.

It features a hybrid SIM slot, which can house either two SIM cards (Micro+Micro) or a single SIM card along with a microSD card (up to 128GB) for storage expansion - the smartphone houses 64GB of inbuilt storage. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Mediatek P10 MT6755processor (four cores at 2GHz+four cores at 1.2GHz), clubbed with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and Mali-T860MP2 (700MHz) GPU.

It sports a 20-megapixel rear camera with Sony sensor, laser focus, f/2.2 aperture, and dual LED flash. Also featured is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with wide angle sensor and front-facing flash. On the connectivity front, the Archos Diamond 2 Plus bears 4G LTE (Cat. 6),Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB Type-C (with OTG), and FM radio.

The Diamond 2 Plus is backed by a non-removable 3000mAh Li-ion battery with fast charging capabilities. It also houses a fingerprint sensor for enhanced privacy and security.
