Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date Tipped, More Details Emerge
More details about the Samsung Galaxy S7 flagship smartphone have leaked to the Web as the Mobile World Congress 2016 trade show draws close. Alongside the release date of the Galaxy S7 being tipped, two leaked live images of the handset in its development have also hit the Internet. An alleged company employee has also given some information about the handset.
According to notorious tipster Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, the South Korean tech is aiming to release its upcoming Galaxy S7 smartphone in the US on March 11 - which is a Friday. It is expected to get unveiled around the MWC 2016 trade show. However, the company has not yet sent out invitations for the event.
Additionally, two leaked live images purported to be of the Galaxy S7 have popped up showing the handset's front-facing camera module and the handset itself in its developing stages. The array of camera modules are seen with SM-G930F model name on the board along with R05 marking, which is assumed to be the revision number 5 of the module. As per the image, the front-facing camera will this time have its connector on one side instead of centre like seen in previous models.
Lastly, a person claiming to be a Samsung employee has revealed that all the Galaxy S7 variants will sport a black chassis to give a premium look. The alleged employee also revealed that by using a 12-megapixel rear camera on the Galaxy S7 (down from 16-megapixel in current models), Samsung is concentrating on pixel size instead of pixel count. The smartphone camera is said to use dual pixel autofocus, a technique similar to what Canon uses in its own DSLR cameras. The rear camera hump will also be gone.
The employee adds that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be dust and waterproof. Lastly, all versions of the device will have a dual-SIM version as well that can also support microSD card. It is expected to arrive in Black, White Silver, and Gold colour variants, along with a bigger battery capacity.
Last week, the Galaxy S7 purportedly appeared on two benchmarking websites, revealing specifications. According to the benchmark results, the smartphone features a 5.1-inch QHD resolution display and is powered by the Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset, clubbed with 4GB RAM. Also seen is 64GB inbuilt storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone will be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
