Android L 5.0 Release Date & Download: Update Now Rolling Out On Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Moto X First Gen!
Finally, Sony is bringing Android 5.0 Lollipop to Xperia Z3 and the Z3 Compact.
Similarly, Motorola has managed to roll out the latest Android OS version to the first generation Moto X.
"You'll see the upgrade hit first
devices in the Nordics and Baltics, continuing to further markets, for
more Xperia Z Series products, starting in around two weeks time," Sony
said in a blog on its official website.
The tech giant also listed the "goodies"
that come with the update, which included "fresh, streamline looks"
that still retain the company's "minimalistic approach" to interface and
app design, and Android for Work.
"Not only are business-ready Xperia
smartphones and tablets unique devices for work - with waterproof form
factors, great battery life and productivity features - they will now
also be part of the Android for Work ecosystem," Sony said.
In addition, the update will also
include better storage management and customization, giving users "the
option to easily move applications from internal memory to SD card -
giving you more control over your content, particularly useful for
devices with slightly less space."
The company, however, said that the rollout schedule may differ from one market or carrier to another.
On the other hand, Motorola has begun its soak test for the Android Lollipop update on the first gen Moto X.
According to Android Authority, Motorola's Luciano Carvalho said that the said device will be getting Android 5.0.2.
"As for the newer Android 5.1 OS update, no plans or decisions have been taken yet, apparently," the site said.
"The soak test is heading out to testers
right now, who will double check that everything is working smoothly
before a rollout to general users probably sometime in the next month or
so," Android Authority went on to say. "Moto X (1st gen) owners
shouldn't have to wait too much longer for an official Lollipop build,
although carrier branded versions may have to hold out a little while
longer."
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been called "the first real face-lift since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich" by CNET and is regarded as having a "standout aesthetic that's both as modern as iOS 8 and uniquely its own."
However, the Lollipop version came with its own set of glitches, which have been since corrected with newer updates.
Google recently rolled out Lollipop 5.1,
which apparently also has a bug. Once more, another update that will
fix the RAM issues will be released to remedy the memory problems,
although it isn't known when exactly will the update arrive, according
to TechnoBuffalo.
